Victory Golf Course at Verrado Golf Club
“Breathtaking Desert Views”
Victory Golf Course at Verrado Golf Club is an 18 hole regulation course just outside of Goodyear, AZ. Nestled in the scenic White Tank Mountains, Victory Golf Course offers some of the most scenic desert views of any golf course in the Phoenix area. Victory is an executive course and runs a little more expensive than other public courses in the area, but it offers a great round, incredible views, and a very firm yet soft surface for your lie.
The club house features a full size restaurant and bar with a covered patio overlooking hole 18 and the driving range beyond. I played my round in May so the weather in Phoenix was incredibly hot, but beverage carts and coolers helped ease the heat! The course lies beneath a full spa and retreat, hiking trails, and walking paths for you to enjoy after or before your round.

Victory Golf Course Front 9
Victory Golf Courses front and back nine are separated by a road and a retirement community in the middle. The front is a very challenging par 36 consisting of five Par 4’s, two par 3’s, and 2 par 5’s. When you arrive for your tee time, the rangers will have you set up shop at the putting green, which is extremely challenging, fast and circles a large tree and cactus. You will be escorted to the firth tee which is about a 2 minute ride via cart to the tee box.
My personal favorite hole on the front nine is hole number 8 which a 542 yard (632 yard from the black tees) par 5 which offers an extremely challenging tee shot and even more difficult second shot. The tee box sits back around a bend from a narrow fairway. For your second shot you will need to clear a narrow alley of cacti that will set you up for a short 3rd shot. Miss to the right or left and you will find yourself in rattlesnake country…and we all know we don’t want to be there. If you find yourself with a birdie or par put, don’t worry the large sloping multi leveled green offers PGA Tour level putts.
Victory Golf Course Back 9
Located on the south side of the retirement community, Victories back nine is more difficult than the front. While the front nine offers large open fairways, the back is more narrow and is filled with seen and unseen hazards. For many holes you may think you a perfect tee shot, only to pull up to find your ball in the sand…the worst. The back nine is par 36 consisting of five par 4’s, two par 3’s, and two par 5’s.
My personal favorite hole on the back nine is easily and without question hole. With views u the dining patio this hole overlooks a lake to the left with the fairway beyond. I choose to play from the black tees because I was able to hit over the water (which I did, but tried to do it twice and well…RIP second ball. Hole 18 is a breathtaking par 5 that’s features some of the most challenging plays on the course.
First you need to clear the water, then you have to tuck your second shot around a mountain perturbing into the fairway, with a small green nestled to the back. Let’s not forget about the large rock at the foot of the green, and oh wait if that wasn’t enough, the green is surrounded by a hill slope to the left and sand to the right. Good luck folks. I will say that I parred this hole 🙂 (for my first par of the day). Yeah it’s a tough course!
Verrado Golf Club Amenities
Along with its executive course, Verrado Golf Club is home to an elegant and popular wedding venue. Yeah, folks get hitched here and let me tell you, I’ve seen the photos and they can put on one hell of a wedding. Picturesque sunsets overlooking the desire mountains with Phoenix off in the distance.
The Verrado Grille is a local favorite and offers patrons and golfers an unmatched dining view, outdoor seating and delicious fares. Open seven days a week, the grille is popular for a bite after your round, and a solid date night option. Oh, and let’s not forget about the wine club membership Verrado offers to their annual pass holders and members.
Next time you’re out in desert, give Victory Golf Course a try. You won’t be disappointed.
